BSPA Artistic Director
Peter, Artistic Director of BSPA, has over 30 years’ experience in musical theatre as a performer, director, and producer. Originally from Belfast, he has starred in musicals from London’s West End to PBS American television, and received an MBE for his contribution to music and the arts in Northern Ireland.
Peter has performed around the world both as a solo artist and in large-scale productions. He has recorded 11 albums and has hosted his own television series, along with several series for BBC Northern Ireland.
His long list of performance credits includes over four years as Inspector Javert in Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s “Les Misérables”, performing in concert at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas and famously singing “Bring Him Home” at the funeral of George Best.
His producing credits include “Les Misérables in Concert” at the Odyssey Arena Belfast (at the time the largest production to be staged anywhere in the world), his annual Christmas show “Christmas at the Cathedral”, and “Cats” at the SSE Arena Belfast.
He has also staged “Oliver!” and “Into the Woods” at the UK’s largest theatre, The Edinburgh Playhouse.
As well as many productions in Ireland, Peter has directed shows that have toured both Europe and the USA.
Passionate about encouraging young people to perform, he is delighted to be the Artistic Director of BSPA and to be passing on his experience, knowledge, and passion to the students. He regularly visits the schools and plays an active role in all productions, including directing the annual senior summer production.
“The benefits young people get from performing goes way beyond the stage itself. Self-belief, like-minded friends and self-discipline all come from this wonderful pastime.”
— Peter Corry
