About Peter Corry

BSPA Artistic Director

Peter, Artistic Director of BSPA, has over 20 year’s experience in musical theatre as a performer, director, and producer. Originally from Belfast, he has starred in musicals from London’s West End to PBS American television. He has performed throughout the World as a solo artist and with many of the leading orchestras in Europe and has recorded 11 albums. Peter has also hosted his own TV series and several Radio series for BBC Northern Ireland.

His long list of performance credits include over 3 years as Inspector Javert in Sir Cameron Mackintosh’s “Les Misérables”, performing in concert at the MGM Grand Las Vegas and famously singing “Bring him home” at the funeral of George Best.

His producing credits include “Les Misérables in Concert” at the Odyssey Arena Belfast (at the time the largest production to be staged anywhere in the World) and his annual Christmas show “The Music Box”.

As well as many productions in Ireland Peter has directed shows that have toured both Europe and the USA.

Passionate about encouraging young people to perform, he has directed youth productions of “The Producers”, “Oklahoma!” “Les Misérables” (all at Theatre at the Mill) and most recently “Cats” at the SSE Arena Belfast.

He has also staged “Oliver!” and “Into the Woods” at the UK’s largest theatre, The Edinburgh Playhouse.  More recently Peter Corry Productions has toured the amazing ‘The Showman is Coming’ around Ireland, receiving rave reviews.

This year is continuing to bring the Christmas magic to the city with ‘Christmas at the Cathedral’, and BSPA Voices will join not only Peter but Barbara Dickson and Patrick Smith on stage with the amazing backdrop of St Annes Cathedral.

Peter is delighted to have been Artistic Director of BSPA for the last three years and to be passing on his experience, knowledge, and passion to the students.  He visits the schools regularly and becomes involved in all productions, including directing the fabulous Summer Projects such as Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and his Technicolor Dream Coat and much more.

“The benefits young people get from performing goes way beyond the stage itself. Self-belief, like-minded friends and self-discipline all come from this wonderful pastime.”
