Rachelle has been dancing since the age of three, and has been competing since the age of five. She is BTDA (British Theatre Dance Association) trained in Tap, Modern/Jazz, Classical Ballet and Pointe, and Lyrical. She is also trained in classical and musical theatre singing, achieving her grade 8 in both.Rachelle has competed in numerous competitions throughout Northern Ireland, winning an array of awards every year from ‘highest overall mark, to ‘most memorable performance’.
At the age of ten Rachelle was the only student from Northern Ireland accepted to the Royal Ballet School in Convent Garden. She also represented Northern Ireland in competitions overseas.
At a young age Rachelle was a member of her local Musical Society, performing in shows such as The King and I, Annie, The Wizard of Oz, and she took the lead role in their pantomime Dick Whittington. Through her years with the company Rachelle was then given the opportunity to choreography her first show, Beauty and the Beast.
Before deciding to teach at her own dance school Rachelle auditioned and was given a place at Laine Theatre of Arts and Italia Conti Academy of the Arts, both prestigious arts colleges in London.
Her passion now is teaching and has opened her own dance school (Rachelle Mooney Academy of Dance) in Banbridge. She takes pride in being able to pass on her own knowledge, experience and love for dancing onto her own pupils.Rachelle also dedicates some of her time dancing and doing choreography for a charity organisation called Toccata. They take musical productions around the world raising money for under privileged children, a cause that is close o her heart.
