Simon’s introduction into musical theatre was at the age of 15 in the Belfast Operatic Company production of “Oklahoma!” in the Grand Opera House. He has worked with most of the province’s leading musical societies and was a member of Peter Kennedy’s ground breaking First Act musical company. Simon is a graduate of Middlesex University, where he studied performance arts (Dance). He worked professionally in London and spent 2 years as a professional dancer for the Disney organisation.
Since returning to Northern Ireland, Simon has played various roles including Bernardo in Ulster Operatic’s “West Side Story” (in 2004 and 2008), Max in Lisnagarvey Operatic Society’s “The Sound of Music” and Wallace Hartley in Belfast Operatic Company ‘s centenary musical production of “Titanic the musical”. He has had a long connection with Bart Players, one of Ulster’s leading drama groups, and this is where he made his directorial debut. In recent years he has had the pleasure of directing both the adult and youth sections of Lisnagarvey Operatic and Dramatic Society.
