Belfast School of Performing Arts are delighted to have Anna O’Byrne as a patron of the school following her two-day masterclass with our students.

Training: Originally from Australia, Anna trained at the Victorian College of the Arts, graduating with a BMus (Hons) in classical voice.

Theatre includes: being chosen by Andrew Lloyd Webber to create the role of Christine Daaé in the acclaimed Australian production of Love Never Dies (Green Room Award nomination). This followed a stint on the Australasian tour of The Phantom of the Opera, in which she covered and performed Christine.

Opera includes: principal artist at Victorian Opera, playing Polly Peachum in The Threepenny Opera (Malthouse Theatre co-production), The Gossip in Angélique, and covering and performing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. Also, Tamiri in Il Re Pastore (Lyric Opera of Melbourne), Die Fledermaus (In Good Company) and La Clemenza di Tito (VCA Opera Studio).

Film includes: Christine Daaé in Love Never Dies.

Television includes: Carols by Candlelight 2011, The Circle and Today Show.

Other work includes: recording for the ABC Classic FM Sunday Live series, and vocals and soundscapes for the world premiere of Brett Dean’s opera Bliss for Opera Australia. She is also an experienced concert artist, with repertoire including Mozart’s Requiem and Exsultate Jubilate, Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Schubert’s Mass No 2 and numerous Bach masses and cantatas.
